  Introduction

"Lungta" was first published in August 1989 by the Swiss Tibet Support Group. The members of the editorial board were Christophe Besuchet, Ariane Poux (now Ariane Jones), Tica Broch, and Judith Barrow. In 1993, on the request of the original founders and publishers of "Lungta", AMI took on the responsibility of publishing this journal, which continued to be sponsored by the Swiss Tibet Support Group and by Jean-Daniel Isenschmid till the issue No.9. The present editorial board includes Jamyang Norbu and Tashi Tsering.
