  AMI has begun a modest initiative to collect books, maps and periodicals on China. We have also acquired rare editions of the Tang Annals and the Ming official histories. We would be very grateful for any contribution of books or subscriptions to periodicals relating to China.

  To collect, classify and translate all documents on Sino-Tibetan relations during the Han, Sui, Tang, Song, Yuan, Ming and Qing dynasties.  
  To study the above materials and publish a monograph series.
  To conduct special studies on the Chinese perception of Tibet and Tibetans throughout history, and changing perspectives.

  To study Qing-Tibetan relations towards end of the dynasty.  
  To study Tibet's relations with early Republic and warlord regimes.
  To study modern chinese concepts of imperialism and colonialism as influenced by Western and Japanese models, and expressed by Sun Zhongshan (Sun Yat-sen) in his concept of China composed of five nationalities.  
  To study Tibets relation with Nationalist China, and also the Guomintang regime in Taiwan.
  To study the Mongolian-Tibetan Affairs Commission, and its history.  
  To study the various causes and channels of Taiwan's influences on the Tibetan community-in-exile, and its impact on Tibetan government morale and politics.

  To study the Chinese economy, and its affect on Tibet.  
  To conduct demographic studies and to examine changing demographic patterns, Chinese population transfer policies and their effect on Tibet.
  To study the leadership of China, its succession problems and implications for the future.  
  To study the various Chinese constitutions and the legal system as they relate to Tibet.
  To study the Democracy movement inside and outside China.
